So I thought I would update here...I ended up buying a new sewing machine instead of the serger. My cheap Singer kept jamming up on me and I was about to take a sledgehammer to it. My awesome DH convinced me to go get a good machine, so I went to a Janome dealer and spent more than I planned lol. But I am very happy with what I got (Magnolia 7330) and will be using this one for a long time. Maybe in a couple of years I will get a serger, but for now this is working out great.

It is quiet. Even my dh commented how quiet it was! I had a cheapie before so now it is actually fun to sew!
