Wiggly 5 year old at the dinner table
Okay so my kid (ODS) is skinny and he's has a little trouble focusing at meal times. He really needs to be made to buckle down and eat his dinner. Anyway so when his little brother was old enough we graduated ODS to a dining room chair and out of his booster seat. Its probably been a year since he's used the booster. Anyway so ODS doesn't stay seated during dinner. He's always wiggling his chair over, leaning on the chair, standing up and just not sitting. Maybe partially because only his toes touch the floor when sitting. Would it be ridiculous to get him a booster seat. I don't mean a highchair or anything i could strap him into.... just something that would raise him up a little higher at the table and have some small arms on it to contain his wiggly butt. But I don't like to go backwards, but I want him to sit down and eat....

Re: Wiggly 5 year old at the dinner table
My kids just sit on their knees at that age, but I don't see anything weird about getting him a booster. My in-law have one of those brown ones that are common in restaurants and the kids love sitting in it.

Why not ask him? Maybe what he really needs is a lower chair or something to rest his feet on.

Dd is 5. She's pretty wiggly too. I have to remind her to sit up straight and not lean at times. Ask him if he'd like a booster. I'm sure he would know if he needs one or not. Or how about a stiff pillow to sit on? Ooooh! Like that blow up booster seat. It's for the car but would work in this case

We have this for my almost 4yo DD and love it. No straps to get nasty and its soft and very easy to clean. It's also not babyish or like a high chair so he may like it.

Re: Wiggly 5 year old at the dinner table
My son sits on his pillow pal to boost him up.

My DS sat on a wooden bar stool at that age. He couldn't wiggle much or he would fall off, but it was the same height as he would have been with a booster seat... But not at all baby-ish. It also helped with the slouching/goofing off issue.

My sister has something common like this that her 4yo uses. I was considering one for DD because she used it when we were visiting. Just boosts, not babyish at all. And big and wide which is something I like better than the restaurant types with the crotch bump in the middle. Only thing is her chairs have arms to keep it from sliding off and my chairs do not.
