Why is common practice on DS to mark "found" or grey out found items in ISO?

I don't understand this practice. Why do so many members refuse to just delete off of their ISO lists what they have found? Why the greying out, crossing out or marking "found"? Changing the color does not reflect on a mobile device, and by leaving the text it is still caught in searches. Am I missing something?

yeah, on the ISO lists I see no point. On the FS stuff we require it be left until feedback is left, just moved to the bottom or whatever

I could see someone doing it if they don't have the item in their possession yet (they bought it but havent received it, etc). Just in case you have to add it back on there again because you don't receive the item or it isn't in the condition you wanted. But it should be easy to just write it back on there in that case.
