Breast pumps are free????
I heard on KPBS radio the other day that health insurance does pay for full price of a new breast pump that you purchase if you have a health insurance.
Is that actually true? Do you have any experience with that? |

Re: Breast pumps are free????
Call your insurance company. Mine had me pay a copay after the doc wrote a script for it. But my insurance will not change over because its grandfathered in since weve had it for so long.
This site might help. http://www.healthcare.gov/law/timeline/

Ours covers up to $250 every 24 months. All I do is buy whatever pump I want and submit the bill & claim form. They said once the receive it I should get the refund in 7-10 business days.

Re: Breast pumps are free????
With medicaid they will only pay for breastpumps for those under 21 years old.
My work insurance covers 90% from an in-network supply store. Best bet is to call them and find out. |

Re: Breast pumps are free????
When I was pregnant (my son is 7.5 months), I asked my insurance company about paying for a breast pump and they said that they do NOT cover them. I've talked to several women who said theirs did cover them though so there no telling. I guess it depends on insurance company.

Affordable woman's health care act part of obama care is supposed to make this happen but most insurances want it purchased under a durable medical equipment provider andante of those don't seem to be set up.

Re: Breast pumps are free????
My insurance provider covered a new Medela Pump in Style Advanced for free (no co-pay). When I called them it said it was covered under the new Obama Care law and to bring the pump to the pharmacy department (got mine at Target) and it will be billed there.
Bought mine a few weeks ago with no problem. I'd call your insurance company to verify what they will cover as it seems to vary depending upon company.

Re: Breast pumps are free????
Mine covers it but I have to get them through a contracted provider and have had a ridiculous time with the two companies they gave me. One I ordered from, they called me next day and said my insurance didn't cover it, I made them call again. They called the next day and said, "oh its covered but we aren't a provider sorry." The other company is telling me that if I want a double pump I have to pay an upgrade fee of $100 when my insurance has told me that a double electric is 100% covered with no charge to me.
So what I am saying is even if its covered by your insurance you might have a tough time actually getting one.
