I don't get more than 2 hours on either side either. Even with the fancy snoogle pillow, laying on my left causes my shoulder to ache and laying on my right causes my hip to ache. At this point, both positions cause my knees to ache as well. So, I don't know that the pillows really help with the aching joints.

I recommend sleeping on the couch, but not really propped up, just using the back of it as a support along your back. I sleep really well on our couch.. until I get crazy hot cause there's no ceiling fan in the living room.

YES! THE COUCH!

I am going to try this tonight!

Girl... I hear ya!! I also toss and turn like you described and I sleep on my back too... so my night looks like this... left, back, right, back, left... I think this is just an unavoidable part of being at the end. I do use my recliner, but my hips still hurt in there too. I mostly use the recliner for the reflux, so that can always add an interesting dimension to my over nights!

Hang in there momma! Soon we will be holding our squishy little babes and our uncomfortable sleepless nights will be a distant memory!

Re: Gimme some tips and advice on how to SLEEP

ok, so I tried the couch.

I can't BELIEVE I forgot about that. I remembered last night as I was laying there that I slept on the couch on/off for the last few weeks of my pregnancy.

It DID help. I slept probably 3 hrs on the couch, and another 1 hr in my bed. Still only 4 hrs, but much less tossing and turning, so a solid 4 hrs.

Thanks for the tip!

I showed DH the awesome looking preggo pillow. But he said the same thing I did... "Wow, that is expensive" lol. We are cheapos.

I have the same problem, except due to my hips and sacroiliac joints hating me, plus then I started getting awful nerve and muscle pain. Magnesium helps a ton with the nerve/muscle issues, but other than that, I've had to resort to taking tylenol and benedryl every night just to get halfway decent rest...and that still leaves me tossing and turning all night.

I sleep on my side, but ever so slighly prop up my belly with the edge of the blanket. That way I dont get that heavy pulling feeling you are talking about.
If Ive gone a few nights with terrible sleep, my midwives recommended Benadryl

my problem is actually not from my belly pulling... It's from my butt cheeks/hips pulling and then all that pressure being on the side on which I'm laying..., My bottom half seems to grow excessively with pregnancy. My body likes me to be bottom heavy...

I can't have ANYTHING under my belly - even a tiny edge of blanket - or I am uncomfortable. I am actually getting more and more irritated daily by even a shirt covering my belly. I usually walk around the house with my shirt hiked up on top of my belly, just below my boobs, b/c even the shirt fabric irritates me. I'm weird, I guess. LOL

I cannot bring myself to take anything to help me sleep. I will have an occasional alcoholic drink, I drink coffee everyday, sometimes I eat crappy food.... but I am just not comfortable taking the medicine type stuff. Funny how pregnant women can be so different with comfort levels, LOL. Maybe I'll have a wine cooler tonight before bed.... I just need to STAY asleep. It's not so much the falling asleep part.... it's staying asleep. We'll see.

On a side note... totally un-fix-able... it was sad sleeping away from DH. He tucked me in and kissed me goodnight. And I guess I'm just hormonal, but in 7 yrs of marriage, we've rarely slept apart by choice. I know I did this last pregnancy, too. But it was still sad. Is that strange? lol. I woke up at the crack of dawn and went back to bed in our bed so I could lay next to him when his alarm went off. I missed him.

Do you sleep with a pillow between your legs? I have to sleep with a pillow between my legs? A little tucking under the belly and a bunch of blanket between my boobs. Just try to prop up any weight that is problematic.
