at what age did you start taking your child to the dentist?

Ds is 10months and has 5 teeth. Thinking about taking him this fall. But wanted some options and thoughts. Thanks

I want to say 16-18 months or so. I forget but range is usually 18 months till 3.

My oldest went a little before age.2 due to a faceplant while running (did great) Little just had her first apt at 22 months. It was a nightmare of an apt. hope its better next time.

I think my ped said something like 2. Unless there is an issue & as long as you are practicing good oral hygiene at home.

Well DD's appt will be on the 18th and she is 17mos.
She has some decay in one of her top side teeth.
However I am not so sure how much they are going to be able to do, if anything.
She is not going to just sit there and wear the "nose gear" or let them dig in her mouth.

I am just trying to brush her teeth myself but it is so not easy, she fights it.
I give her the toothbrush w/xylitol toothpaste in hopes it helps some.
She wont let me even rub her teeth w/a washcloth w/o a real fight and shed just wake up if I do it in her sleep.

My son was much older and he had to have caps and had a tooth pulled, he had to be put under, but he did fine.

Our dentist says that he doesn't need to see them till they are 3. So that is what we have done.

I was told that before 2-3 yrs old, it would just be for a meet and greet... So your LO gets used to the idea of the dentist.
