Stocking up on detergent question

I guess the short of my question is this: How long will 10lbs of Country Save powder detergent last me? Should I only buy one box, or stock up?

And the long...
It's a good price and I'll be buying it through a co-op that requires a minimum $50 purchase. I'm wondering if 10lbs is plenty enough right now or what.

I'll only be using it on my cloth dipes, and I'll be handwashing them, too. So I'll only use about 2tsp per "load," according to their recommendation.

I'm mommy to Zach. Hoping for more. :-)

Re: Stocking up on detergent question

I love Country Save for our laundry, but I agree I would try a sample maybe? 10lbs is the big box of 160 HE loads. I personally use half that amount which is 1 tbsp for our front load washer so a 10lb box would last me 320 loads. 2tsp is NOT enough detergent at all even for an HE washer by the way. I would try starting with the amount recommended on the box and the smaller box size which is 80 HE loads. Country Save rinses out really cleanly so don't be afraid to use enough. The only reason I use half the amount is because our washer is extremely low water.

ETA: If you know you like it, honestly 1 box would last ages for just diapers!

Re: Stocking up on detergent question

Country Save's recommendation is to use the full amount recommended for the amount of water you are using. A few diaper companies recommend using 2 tsp but it's rapidly becoming an old disproven idea to use that little detergent. It just doesn't get diapers clean.

I use a full scoop in the top loader. I believe that equals 80 loads per box.

I wouldn't stock up. As much as I love Country Save and talk about how it's perfect for everyone, it's not perfect for everyone. Plus, a box will last you quite awhile and powders can cake in moist environments. I doubt the amount you'd save per month, for stocking up, is very worthwhile.

Re: Stocking up on detergent question

For hand washing I'd think 2 tsp would be plenty. If you use any more you'll be rinsing forever! And at that rate you'd have enough for about 2 years, lol! I'd just do the 10 pound box
