Homemade goat's milk formula
I had a couple people PM me about the home-made goat's milk formula I used, so I'm going to post the information here in its own thread. Just a disclaimer, I am no physician and I can't make reccomendations on what you should do. But, here it is if you want to see what I did.
I started my daughter on this at 9 months and I'll probably start my son at 6 months. Previous to that my daughter was on breast milk/alimentum and my son is currently on alimentum. I didn't use this earlier because I think it is too hard for the little ones to digest (for my babies and their sensitive stomachs) Here it is: http://oreganicthrifty.blogspot.com/...la-recipe.html I used this but left out the sunflower oil and liquid whey (I used maple syrup instead of agave). It seems difficult with all the ingredients, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes very easy. We made a batch every night in a Dr. Brown's formula mixer pitcher. Then I seperated it out into the bottles and put them in the fridge for the next day. I used the microwave to warm them (shame on me), but its what worked for us at the time. Oh, I don't have access to fresh goat's milk so I used the Meyenburgs Powder (from Amazon). I should mention the first couple of days were a little rough- she didn't like it and seemed to have a lot of gas. After that (what I considered the adjustment stage) it was all smooth sailing.

Re: Homemade goat's milk formula
Thank you for this. I can't get the link to work could you email it to me? xlynnex@me.com? I am using a goat formula now but it's sort of difficult to get. Thank you.

Re: Homemade goat's milk formula
i did homemade formula as well, following the Weston A Price recipe, which is pretty similar to this one.
I do want to mention that WAPF mentions that you shouldn't use powdered milk because the processing can damage the proteins. Do you mind if I ask why no cow's milk?

Re: Homemade goat's milk formula
Yeah, I know about not using the powdered milk, but I was out of options. I had no where even remotely close to me to buy goat's milk. 2 out of 3 of my babies have pretty severe cows milk allergy. They did fine with goat's though!

Re: Homemade goat's milk formula
I did raw goat's milk fresh off the farm for my daughter when they put me on meds unsafe to nurse.....she thrived on it

Re: Homemade goat's milk formula
Hm. Look into co ops. I actually get my raw milk from an Amish farm in PA through a co op. I live in Florida!
