How long did it take your toddler to potty train?

How old were they when you started?

Re: How long did it take your toddler to potty train?

Ds1 took a week. He was just over 2.
Ds2 took a week. He was just over 2.
Ds3 is on potty training day #4 and finally accident free today! I think he'll take a week as well to be fully potty trained. He is 2 1/2. We tried right when he turned two and after a week it was clearly not working. This time, I think we've got it.

I am a fan of the cold turkey method. One day we just ditch the diapers and kiddo runs around w/o pants. We pretty much don't go anywhere for a week. There is a lot of floor cleaning required on first day or two but they get it pretty fast. After about a week I find we can put underwear and pants on and head out for short trips places. It's not too much longer after that that we can stay out longer as well without accidents. It's been effective for us (almost) three times now.

DS1 was 22 months for daytime pling and I don't think he had any accidents during the 3 days I was in the hospital having DS2. I know from the 3rd day on he was accident free. He is now 3.5 and is working on the nighttime. He doesn't wake up when he has to go . DS2 just turned 21 months and is showing some interest. Friday he said potty so I took off his diaper and he peed in the potty for the first time. I let him go without a diaper for a little bit and he peed on the floor twice. Lol. So he still has a way to go.

Re: How long did it take your toddler to potty train?

DS1- 27months...took forever to potty train. A couple of years of me asking him constantly if he needed to go. Is still not night time trained at age 5. Still waits too long and gets wiggly before finally going potty

DS2- 3 (started on his 3rd b-day). Probably around 5 accidents the first month but pretty much picked it up right away. Doesn't have accidents at night. Tells me when he needs to go potty rather than me having to ask him.

Re: How long did it take your toddler to potty train?

I tried at 16 months, she wasn't ready. Didn't really expect anything, but thought she might be interested because she didn't like to be wet.

I tried at 20 months, no dice.

I tried at 26 months, some success, but the novelty wore off quickly. I tried a few more times, got a catch or two, and then she'd get bored and lose interest.

I tried at 32 months, but we ran into serious issues with constipation and didn't want to hamper my successes with pain. She figured out at that point how to take off a snapping diaper, but only took it off when it was wet and handed it to me, at which point we'd go get a new one and put it on.

At 34 months she handed me her wet diaper and refused to let me put on a new diaper. I told her she had to use the potty if she didn't want to wear a diaper. She said ok. She had a few accidents from there out, but not many, and she hasn't worn a diaper during the day since.

DD was 2y4m old and it took a solid week before I could take her out in public and not freak out about her possibly having an accident.

Re: How long did it take your toddler to potty train?

DS1 2yrs when we started (big mistake) 3.5 yrs before he was fully trained

DS2 3 years when we started/trained he was ready and picked it up within a few days. no accidents

~ I refuse to follow a kid around and clean up pee messes because "I" did not get them to the potty in time. If they can't go on their own 90% of the time. I don't mind the occasionally reminder they stay in diapers.
