Anyway at the moment money is not a concern so tell me you favorite, ask your techy person their favorite and spam me some links!!! After finishing my degree in about 2 years I will use it for general house computer stuff and pictures and stuff

I've always had a MacBook Pro and love them. I don't have my own laptop now, but am thinking of getting something small like a MacBook Air or Chromebook for easy portability. I think you'd need a backup computer with more storage if you went that route though.

I have been leaning toward a Mac but I am a bit concerned with user interface. I have only ever owned PC's so is it easy to go between them?

Re: Buying a new laptop

Macs are so pricey for what you get these days and they seem to be really easy to bust. I have a friend who had her two year old bust her Macbook screen twice, Mac seem to use some bad glass. Also I find they get really hot. Also I think you end up spending a lot more on software, even for software you normally can get free or cheap. But then I am not a Mac fan and have had a few friends regret going Mac, not saying I don't have die hard Mac friends too, but I have a few who regret wasting their money on Macs.

Overall we tend to go with Dells in our house. I am hard on my laptops, and I have been super happy with my laptops from them. Between DH and I we have had quite a few Dells and have always been super happy with them.

Re: Buying a new laptop

i have an acer i got a year ago. i like it ok. i don't think it will last long though. sometimes windows won't load and i have to reboot and the wireless internet on it seems to go in and out (router is good, it's something in the computer)
it's fine for just surfing the internet, that's all i do with it. but i don't expect it to last real long.

i had a compaq that lasted me 7 years. i loved it. had no problems with it and could do anything with it.

Re: Buying a new laptop

I've had my first MacBook for almost a year now and I still don't know how to use it. My hubby activated the keychain and I couldn't turn it off even after looking through everything so I had to restore it. And even to restore it, I don't think I did it right. Personally, I don't think it's easy to switch from a PC to Mac.

Re: Buying a new laptop

See I switched from PC to Mac 3 or 4 years ago, and it was the best decision (IMO). I find the Mac to be more user friendly, and I haven't had any problems with it (where as we had constant problems with every PC we've ever had).

I have had an Acer laptop for school for 1 1/2 years & it works well for me. I'm not in to spending the insane amount of money they want for Macs. I'd rather get a pc & spend the rest on fun stuff.
