Re: Tax Return - What are you going to do with it?

I miss income tax returns. Instead we'll be paying many many thousands because we are self-employed. It is a sad time of year now

Re: Tax Return - What are you going to do with it?

We are going to buy a new-to-us van. It will be an older model with high miles as we don't drive very often. We only have one vehicle now and I like having the option of going somewhere during the day if needed.

We would also like to purchase new mattresses for DH and I, passing our old ones down to the older kids.

DH would like to build a computer to use as our home server, but I would rather put that on hold. I don't think I will get my way.

We also need to put some in savings for a deposit on a new place as we need to move this summer. Cramming all of us into a 2 bedroom isn't the most ideal situation.

We always use the money to put into our Roth IRAs. "Pay yourself first," I think that is what Ben Stein said. Great advice.

That makes me sad Crystal. I seen that on your FB. Something I don't look forward to in the future if my business takes off

It's fun seeing what everyone's doing! I feel amazingly blessed. I prayed and prayed all year for a break and when I finally stopped asking and just let it up to God, things are falling into place.

Re: Tax Return - What are you going to do with it?

We did ours last night and are getting a pretty good amount back. It will: pay off a credit card, put 2 months of bills intou our savings, pay for our family trip to Disneyland and various home things like an alarm system for our house, new washing machine. I hope there is enough leftover to replace the bathtub and tile surround.

Here's a question for you all: I used a different program for filing our taxes this year. This new program told me about an adoption credit from our state for special needs adoption. I had no idea it was available through our state also. I went through the past 3 years since we have adopted them and it was available every year. Can I file an amended return for it for each year (2009, 2010 and 2011). It would total $6,000!! The cutoff for amended returns is 2005 in my state.

Life & car insurance for the year, CSA membership (June - Feb), new stove (purchased last month), summer camp/activities for the kids, 1/4 of a cow (in June), 10 whole chickens (July), remainder towards Disney in 2014.

Ours is being split between savings and car principal. We also decided we are both getting $150-$200 fun money from it - I am buying a Kindle Fire.
