Re: Downsizing help!
Does he technically need a bed since he is only there for naps? If you wanted to make the walk-in dining area his 'space', you could do a toddler daybed. Or a twin daybed (and provide yourself with extra seating, and less 'kid' space). You could also put the chest of drawers.. somewhere... and make it contain all of his items. We do not have a changing table at all. I have plastic pads that I put on the floor for diaper changes, and it works great.
![]() Love the daybed look.... and this one has a drawer underneath! Our crib does too, and I could just take off the drop-side to make it a daybed. ![]()

His current bed is a converted crib/toddler daybed
I think I'm going to disassemble the crib in a week or so & start him on the futon. He's a great sleeper, so if he transitions well I'll sell the crib. I'll probably keep the mattress as a backup for a while, under my bed, just in case. There are a lot of good ideas here; I'll keep an eye on this thread in case I forget anything! Thanks ladies!

Re: Downsizing help!
I think the futon is a great idea. My daughter always thought it was fun to sleep on a futon. He might think it's a great step towards being all grown up. He might think it's a fun adjustment! It's totally worth a try.
