Re: No spend year: February

Thanks for getting it started

I sold some stuff today for $140 + the store I sold it to gave me $35 of store credit so I got a moses basket for the baby (been wanting one) as well as some art stuff for the girls (some of which will go in their big sister bags) without anything OOP!

Tomorrow I have about $55 coming from people picking up random things I've sold. We're having friends over for dinner so no spend + making a bit.

I do need to order batting, but that was part of our planned expenses for the year since I need to make the girls' quilts for their bunk beds!

Here's my EOM tally for Jan...

January Extra $ earned:
$1046 in OT
$18 for my pay check
$58 for books at halfprice

Re: No spend year: February

It's pretty obvious that our big problem is eating out... We need to figure out quick/easy meals (without a microwave) that are GF/Dairy free/Egg free. This would help a lot the days we're running late or something comes up (like an urgent care visit >< )

If anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear 'em!

Re: No spend year: February

I am debating making this a no spend month. I know this is for the year- but not sure I want to make that commitment yet (we have house reno and such that will be going on this summer)

However, my husband and I are cutting out any take-out/ out to eat, and I have cut out buying any fabric this month...and I was discussing not allowing myself into Target this month either- so at this point, I might as well make it a complete no spend month.

May I post here even though I am not going the whole year?

Re: No spend year: February

I don't think everyone is doing it for a year. I'm doing my version which is I don't buy anything unless I sell to earn the $ (I keep it in my paypal) or pay with swagbucks gift cards.
So far I spent 10.10 on postage to mail stuff on the 1st. I used my paypal. By tomorrow, I'll have cashed in for my 5 $5 amazon cards for Feb.. (plus cashed out 2 $5 on DH's account and will do another tomorrow. )

Pgkcb13, I wish I knew a magic solution. I'm gluten free... I can't imagine no eggs or dairy. Have you posted in the kitchen for quick Paleo meal suggestions(I think paleo is no dairy/glutens)? I cooked a turkey last month and just froze the meat in useable potions for us. It made for a lot of quick meals. (13 meals from 1 Turkey!) I used it for salad (as a meal), stirfy noodles (we use rice noodles and they are super fast. ), and in a gravy over mashed potatoes (With veggies on the side but the potatoes and gravy as the "main course"). I used it in less quick meals too like soups and casseroles. I rarely use the microwave except to heat up water.

Re: No spend year: February

I'm in! So far its been kinda spendy, but hopefully I can balance it out with no more spending for the next 2 weeks. Should be easy enough, I have more than enough food and plenty of park playdates to go on, plus we're starting Insanity, so fast food is OUT for us.

01: $24.25 at Target, $7.33 dh on breakfast, $74 scentsy
02: $82.50 ATM pull out, $28.21 at Panera for dinner, $20 on parking in Hollywood.
03: $0 (i can call it, we aren't going anywhere since DH has car work to do, LOL)

Re: No spend year: February

It was kinda a no spend day. I had write DS a check for $40 for his lunch account at school tonight. (It comes from the grocery budget... I can't pack lunches and be thrifty because he is only allowed "prepackaged" food due to crazy rules. Plus, he is in 5th grade so no fridge/microwave access.)
I've cashed out 5 $5 amazon cards on my swagbucks. I cashed out 3 $5 amazon cards on Dh's account. (So that's $40 I'll have in 2 weeks or so when they credit.) I'm up to 750sb and I'll get 500sb or so tomorrow (hopefully) for make goal everyday last month. I'm saving them till I get up to 2500 so I can cash out for $25 in paypal. I'm hoping to make goal on my swagbucks every day this month.
I didn't list anything on Ebay last weekend. (again)
