Re: Which convertible ?

The True Fit is very tall and will last quite a while, but if you are just using it forward facing, I would skip it and do something like the Evenflo Secure Kid or the Harmony Defender. The My Size and clones would probably work really well rearfacing for you.

. I used a RF True Fit in that center seat and was able to fold the seat to access the 3rd row. It did rub when I folded, but it worked. The Secure Kid and Defender are shaped in such a way that I think it would work better.

The MyRide flares out huge at the cupholders, but has a really narrow base, so it puzzles really well with other seats that sit lower. It is a great fit in the Explorer.

Let me go through my old pictures and refresh my memory for what worked in there. I know that only the driver's side seat tumbles independently is a pain. I could get 2 seats side by side on driver's side and center but not passenger's side and center because of that hard plastic piece on the seat between driver's and center made the "60" portion of the seat smaller than the center seat + single driver's side seat.

Re: Which convertible ?

Okay, maybe this will help:

RF MyRide
FF ProSport
FF True Fit.

All independently tight and if I took the True Fit out, the seat would tumble.

RF TF, RF Radian

Re: Which convertible ?

I have the Alpha Omega Elite for my 2.5 year old. We got it when she outgrew her infant bucket. We had it rear facing, and now it's forward facing. It never reclined correctly in the rear facing position in our car. Finally I went to a local car seat installation event and they used pool noodles to help it stay reclined. It's been ok forward facing, but I wouldn't buy it again.

I just played with the Defender at Wal-mart today, and now I want one!! It's a pretty narrow seat, and should work great with just about anything. If you know somebody with a MyRide, you might try it. A Defender and a Size4Me/Headwise should work great, too.

Is the defender slimmer than the Secure kids?
Im leaning toward a Secure Kid and a myride or size4me.Size for me is wider than the base of the myride. But the myside is so wide at the head wings!
If a size for me and secure kid would fit in my explorer Id go with that!

I haven't seen stats, but I think it is. The seat base almost definitely is.
