My cousin is in basic

My 18 year old cousin is in basic in Fort Sill right now. Her dad messaged me that she's having a tough time right now. I want to send her something (our only means of communication) to cheer her up. She cannot receive packages, only letters. Give me some ideas! Maybe some jokes or pictures I could print out?

Jokes and pictures are good. When DH went through (8 yrs ago) he really enjoyed pictures. At the time it was just me. No kid or anything yet but he loved seeing pictures.

I'm mobile.... sorry for the typos!

News articles. I enjoyed the synopsis of my favorite tv shows. I'm a marine so idk if its the same. But absolutely nothing that sings or glitters.

I think this would be great.

My sister went through it few years ago. Just give her lots of encouragement and I'm sure it'll help her out a lot

Positive and inspirational quotes. Plus your own words of encouragement. Knowing that people believe in you is an amazing feeling. Remind her that this is a very short window in her life that will lead to many amazing possibilities. And tell her the DS mamas are rooting for her too

Re: My cousin is in basic

I went to basic at ft Knox. Basic is no fun. They must have changed it but I could receive packages.
I would say letters an pictures would be best. Make sure you keep them informed with news around the town or even world news. I felt so secluded and distant from the outside world. You could even try and have some of her friends and other family members write her and send it all together. The best days at basic were mail days so just keep sending letters and pictures. It definitely helps when you have people that write to help support you through tough times.
