Ruined BumGenius 3.0s?

Hi Mamas-

I used these with my first DD and they were sent along to a trip to grandmas house and my entire lot (21 diapers) were tainted with diaper cream- both Desitin and Dr Browns. I've tried everything- boiling, washing with hot & cold, scrubbing with a toothbrush & Dawn, bleach, degreaser, RLR. Nothing is getting these babies clean. So they don't function as pockets any more as the fleece part of the pocket repels liquid causing the diapers to leak.

I've since made peace with them and moved on to a new stash for my second DD. I was spring cleaning and came across these diapers again and I wondered if they have any function at all, for anyone? Can they be used as covers- the PUL, snaps & aplix is all functional, and I would be using them if the fleece liner was not damaged by the cream.

So I am wondering two things, 1- is there anything else I should try to get out this cream (mind you it's been on there for 2 years now)? and if there is no hope of them ever functioning as pockets again, 2- is there any point in trying to sell them (I was thinking super cheap- what price if any are they worth)?

Just use them as covers. Put the insert over the fleece and add a disposable or reuseable liner if you're concerned about the insert fabric against baby's skin.

I'm thinking I would like to sell them as I don't need them. What do you think their value is? They would come with the 2 inserts/per diaper as well.

I appreciate your insight- I still feel so sad that they got cream on them!

If it was me I would just FFS them with full disclosure that they could only be used as covers. Might really help a mama out. Also, if someone is buying them as covers, they probably wouldn't have much use for the inserts because you aren't supposed to put MF next to a baby's bum. Might want to sell the inserts separately.

And maybe break them up into a few lots with the FFS because no one would probably need or want to buy 21 of the same cover all at once.

But that is just what I would do. I have no idea how I would price something like that to sell.

But I purchased some well used but still fully functional as pockets 3.0 a year or so ago and I paid 6ppd each for them if that helps you at all. (I have noticed 3.0 is worth less than 4.0)

Is cut the suede liner out of them. Sew the edges nice and use them as covers. Maybe leave flaps like the Flips have.

If you want to sell them your best bet is selling then seperately without inserts imo. A dollar or two since shipping will be a bit for that many. I'd sell the inserts seperately if they're undamaged and in what sounds like really good condition.

i like the idea about leaving flaps when cutting out stay dry inner!

I would def be interested in buying a few FFS I would use them as covers!

I was going to suggest FFS as well. They don't have much value if they aren't functional like they're intended to be as pockets.
There are lots of mamas here though, who would LOVE to snatch them up to use as covers!
