I am going to say what every one else has said. I just started sewing late Dec. and I am amazed at how much all this stuff costs!! I only shop clearance/red tag/rock bottom prices, and I still spend an arm and a leg...

If you don't think you would love sewing, don't pick it up. I got a machine for Christmas because I am someone that loves working with my hands and creating, so sewing is a phenomenal outlet for me...but it doesn't save me much money....

If you do it, maybe buy a good vintage machine? Check out niftythriftygirl on eBay to give u an idea of what one should look like. Craigslist a good one and take it to a dealer. If you decide not to sew u can get your Craigslist money out of it al least.

It is much more expensive to sew than just buy, IME.
