Re: What Is the Least Amount of Money It Would Take

Well, $6 so I could get a nice big mocha at Starbucks tomorrow would be pretty awesome

I'm not even sure. Realistically, I don't really need any more money. We rent because this location is a temporary stop. In January 2015, about $350k for a nice house in the city would be nice. Currently though, no debt and all extra money would go towards savings and travel.

Maybe we'll go with $200k. Enough to rent a house abroad for a year or two and relax while living simply, then to buy a new Prius upon returning.

hmm... about $5,000 would pay off any remaining debt we have (cars) but if we get into my hubby's midlife crisis want list, good grief, I'd better win the lotto.

Life changing would be 7 figures. That would pay off the house and let us pick up contracts as needed/wanted, and we both could get to stay how with the kids.

Hmmm. This is a hard question!

I think that to be really life-changing, we'd need at least 500k. We'd both still have to work, as we live in a high COL area. But, we could pay off debt and put a decent down payment on a home (which in our area run about 500-700k).

With 1 million, I would work part time. DP might too.

I think about $250,000...it would pay off the mortgage, the car, and the student loans. That would give us the freedom for one or the other of us to SAH or work PT, we could sell the house to move into something that's a better fit for us, relocate if we wanted, etc. Of course, every little bit helps, but to be completely life-changing, that's the amount.

I have a totally different answer I guess, for us it took regular paychecks and we were lucky to get a $5,000 moving expense, but we could have done without that. Overall though we completely changed our lives with just a move of job. We have a great life, that is very different from our old, sure DH still has to work, but otherwise we travel more, do more, and a whole lot of that came by moving, and cutting back.

$50,000 would pay off debt (van) and give an emergency fund and I could SAH. (free up $2000 a month between car payment and day care)

$250.000 and we would be debt free, completely and have a good EM fund

$100,000 would pay off our house and put aside a great little nest egg. We have no debt other than the house and being able to free up the mortgage payment (minus the escrow which we would still save) would help us save every month and not worry about how to pay for increased groceries or health insurance costs. It would seriously take away 90% of my money worries.

I'll say 100،000. that would pay off house , bit a brand new car, and also give us some to remodel.
