Ow! My wrist/hand hurts! The dirtbike bit me :(

So my husband was having me hold the dirtbike and he told me to let it go...well the stand slipped and...it fell on me. My hand bent backwards towards the top part of my arm. Holy h did it hurt! That was 2 days ago. Everytime I do something that works my hand/wrist it's like it happens all over again. I can't squeeze with that hand, twist, bare too much weight or even pull with it. I've been trying to wrap it at night to keep it nice and still but it hurts! I'm not one to complain so my husband is worried that I messed it up. What could this be? I obviously cannot go to the doc, we are currently in the middle of a blizzard and can now not get the door open. But what did I do to myself? Should I get it checked out or just see what happens- like I planned on doing?

Ya...X-Ray may be in order. Wrist is a weird thing; it could be broken and feel like a sprain. And I would use a wrist guard at night especially. I would do all cold compression...no heat few times a day until you see a doc. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks! I will do this. I've never broken anything before so I have no clue what symptoms yo look for. I can still move it...which I thought meant it was fine but then every time I attempt to full on use it it gets all messed up again

Wrist fracture doesn't swell up like other bones; I've sprained my wrist so many times I lost count... You're probably looking at good two to three weeks of resting and slowly get your strength. But...of course only a doctor can really tell you what's really going on.

Re: Ow! My wrist/hand hurts! The dirtbike bit me :(

Could possibly be a deep bruise. This summer I went o. The bil's boat we had a great time when we brought it back to the dock the throttle got stuck (sometimes happens in older boats) in reverse bil panicked a bit and threw it into forward then cut the engine. Well the reverse then froward made the boat lurch quickly and threw my poor wrist against the metal canopy rods and I fell. When I got up my wrist hurt like yours so we went to the doc got an X-ray and everything. Turned out to be a bruise doc called it a deep bruise and it took like 3 weeks to feel better and then she the weather changed it hurt again...ugh! I also could not squeeze my hand into a fist. I would definitely get it checked after the storm but if you have a stabilizing wrist brace like they use for carpal tunnel that would prolly work best for now. I hope you feel better quickly.

If it is still a problem once you can get out, I would have them take anterior/posterior and lateral x-rays to be sure it isn't fractured. Fractures can take up to 72 hours to show anyway so it is not out of the ordinary to wait to x-ray anyway and the wrist is very tricky to get good pics of anyway. At this point you cant alternate ice/heat for 20 min at a time and be sure you elevate it and rest. Good luck.
