Re: Blessed with Children, Struggling for More February
Hope4more - It makes sense to me. You asked for a referral to an endrocrinologist for infertility which would mean a reproductive endrocrinologist (RE). The type of practice a RE has is a fertility clinic which includes IVF. A fertility clinic (yes, you and they can call it an ivf clinic) is any fertility issue beyond the basics your obgyn would help with which for most is rather limited. If you do a consult, don't feel they are pushing ivf if they mention it. Often they try to make sure you are 'aware of all your options'. Some patients want to be aggressive about treatment and jump to ivf or do the standard amount of tries of iuis then move onto ivf while others are looking for more hormone testing and taking it slow on the ARTs so during the consult you can share what you are looking for. Depending on where you live and insurance coverage, finances come into play.

Re: Blessed with Children, Struggling for More February
Yeah, REs usually also do IVF, but they do a whole bunch of other things as well. It's just that IVF is frequently the most costly OOP thing they do, so many practices also advertise pricing & financing deals, details about the procedure, etc. DP & I have both been to the same RE practice. I'm now doing but was never pushed to do IVF. I don't think they ever talked to DP about it, except in passing. We had some of the same meds, some different, based on our own issues.
The consult is worth your time, just to see what they can do for you. As for the doctor's site--I'll show you mine, if you show me yours ![]() Last edited by carriek38; 03-01-2013 at 04:19 AM. |

Re: Blessed with Children, Struggling for More February
i was married prior and we didnt get pregnant for yrs of whoops and pull outs. I am fertile mertile usually... well they tested us both and they came back with him only have 1% normal sperm and told us no way we would get pregnant and need ICSI. i thought about doing IUI one cycle but read its less likely to happen. so on went H to suppliments- he cut down on his bad habits and we got pregnant the next month. lost it, got pregnant w in 14 days. we went on to lose 2 more and have one more child.
look into all the options is my point. IUI may help tho. I know several people who did it and it worked. (like the family whos wife was allergic to her hubbys sperm) |

Re: Blessed with Children, Struggling for More February
so I tested this morning, it was positive. I'm only 6-7 dpo, so I am fairly certain its the shot. It was pretty light, but just seeing that positive it is soooo hard not to get my hopes up. Like maybe, just maybe its real. I'm hoping its just a little darker every day, I hate seeing negatives...

Re: Blessed with Children, Struggling for More February
Ugh I'm sorry ladies!
Those of you who have tested out triggers, how long did it take for you to get a neg when it was out of your system?

Re: Blessed with Children, Struggling for More February
It's different for everybody...mine is AT LEAST 10 days (I've had some blaring false positives at 10 & 11 dpo), whereas DP was usually 6 or 7 days. There's really no rule, it's just how your body processes the hcg. Though once you know for yourself, it should be fairly consistent.

Re: Blessed with Children, Struggling for More February
Amy, this is exactly why I test out my trigger. I hate the unknown. For me it takes 7-10 days usually.
