What would you expect to be paid...
to watch an almost 2 year old for about 24 hours in your home?
We've asked DCP if she would consider watching our LO for an overnight in June while we attend a family wedding (of which we're all a part. Long story but this is the easiest solution for our socially anxious kid - he loves her and she loves him). DCP would have him Friday morning and we would pick him up Saturday by lunchtime. We pay her $200 a week to watch LO full time, anyway, but these are different circumstances and I don't want to insult or or over think the compensation. What would you want in return for watching LO?

I'd want 12 hours of full time pay and 12 hours of half time pay.

Re: What would you expect to be paid...
Well, technically she gets about 4.44 an hour, 24 hours comes to 106, so by the hours I'd offer 110. I don't know how to do it otherwise, 50 seems too low for a full day and 5 meals.
^^ ooh good idea. I like the above.

Re: What would you expect to be paid...
If I babysit the little one I watch (18 months old) overnight her mama pays $100 day. I think that is fair.

Re: What would you expect to be paid...
Definitely wouldn't give her $50! Doing it the way the first poster mentioned is under $100.. I guess I still feel like that's too low. I was thinking more like $100-$120.

By what you pay her weekly, she's already being paid for Friday until about 5, right? If that's the case I might offer $75-85 for the evening, night and Saturday morning

Re: What would you expect to be paid...
I think I'd offer $100 if she's already paid til 5. If you pay her generously, she will be more likely to want to do it again next time you ask.

Re: What would you expect to be paid...
well, this is something I've thought about since we're having to pay a sitter for when I'm in labor! And my last labor was about 24 hours. While I hope and expect things to go quicker, I am preparing financially for a big cost.
I intend to give her $100 straight up. Unless, of course, she's really only there with DD for like 5 awake hours, then, maybe less. If it's more than a day, probably more.
