New question about dishes

Simple white with blue edges- this is ours but you can find SO many styles- its got just a little more spunk than plain white and they are HARD to break. Not impossible, but I have dropped bowls in the sink and on the floor before without them breaking.

I got a set of discontinued pfaltzgraff "Cassandra" at Menards of all places. I got place settings for 12 with all the accessories for $60.

They are plain white with a design and I love them. They have been dropped a few times without breaking.

I actually wanted corelle since they stack so well, fit in a dishwasher so well, are easily replaced, cheap to buy, lightweight and supposedly very sturdy. I heard that corelle can shatter in a ton of scary pieces. Since I hate broken glass and fear my kid or cats encountering the tiny shards of broken glass, I went w/ stoneware. I'm kinda jealous of all of the people that use them for years and never break one b/c they are awesome dishes.

I have had our first 2 sets of Corelle (cottage blue) for 13 years with nothing broken even in a home full of males. I just picked up our Corelle Day Dream set from Wal-Mart yesterday. I am sure we will have them for years & years.

I have fiesta in 15 different colors. I love fiesta for how sturdy and heavy they are. Haven't lost a single piece in the 15 months I've had them. I do have a white set and I do like the white. I was surprised how much I like the white. That said, I think the ivory would hide utensil marks better than the white. The ivory is very neutral and would go with any of the other colors if you decide to buy serving pieces or bake ware in other colors. I was at macys yesterday and the sets are buy one get one free right now. If you open up a macys card, you might be able to get another 20% off. (Dh opened a macys card yesterday and I don't remember what was not included in it except for makeup) Everything he bought, he got 20%.

Just try 1 set for $25 or so. Give it 6 months then if they still are kicking get however many you need.

While at the ER tonight my mom tells me she bought me 2 sets of Daydream Corelle plus 10 sandwich plates! Totally not minimalism BUT so awesome. I can return a set (since I don't need 3) then sell my Country Cottage! Yippee ~
