I just had my first prenatal appt today ( yay
) And found out my bp is ridiculously low. I think they're waiting on the results of the tests to tell me what I should be doing for that, since she didn't mention doing anything. But I'm running to the store tonight and wondering if I should be eating more of certain kinds of food? I should probably up my water and salt.... But anything else?

Re: What can I do about super low blood pressure?
What kind of effects are you feeling from it? My BP goes pretty low in pregnancy (90/50) and I get pretty lightheaded and nauseated, but I also didn't get a whole lot in the way of suggestions. It usually comes up a little after the first trimester, and then I don't feel it quite so badly.

Re: What can I do about super low blood pressure?
I haven't had that during pregnancy but did have 90s over 50s in my early 20s. I found regular daily walks were pretty effective at bringing it back up. I don't know if you are already exercising or if this would work for you while pregnant though.

I suffered low BP ANC sugars this past baby! I worked out and stayed hydrated and ate regularly!

Re: What can I do about super low blood pressure?
Keep up with nutritious foods, and I agree with upping salt, preferrably sea salt or himilayan, (sp?) something processed. Free range eggs would be a good food to be eating every day, since they have a good balance of many essential nutrients including sulfur and magnesium.

Re: What can I do about super low blood pressure?
eating often will be the cure. if you wait too long your bp drops quick. keep bars on hand as well as nuts and fruit leathers since they boost sugar levels quickly.

Re: What can I do about super low blood pressure?
I didn't know they did anything for it at all.
![]() AFAIK low blood pressure usually means a healthy mama with a strong heart. Unless you are having major issues from it, or it's indicative of some other problem (can't think of one off the top of my head - internal bleed? unlikely though) I have never heard of it being treated,. Mine is typically low. Usually around 80/50. Then towards the end of pregnancy it naturally comes up a bit, to around 100/60. When I am not pregnant, it is usually around 80-90/50-60.

Re: What can I do about super low blood pressure?
Mine is always low and drops even more when I'm pregnant. Stand up/change positions slooooowly and drink a ton of fluids and you should be OK. Have you felt dizzy or like you might faint?
