Personally I think from a nutritional stand point a lot of detoxes are junk. If anything I'd look at something like this instead:

I'm on a detox of sorts right now. But its kinda like that elimination diet but no smoothies for days.

4 weeks long. first week drop your wheat/sugar (cane not natural sources), second week drop your red meats, third week drop your white meats, fourth week drop all meats totally. slowly add them back into the diet to see if any affect you.

I agree with the pp. "detox" is a new word for crash diet.

Juice detoxes really work and really are a great way to eliminate toxins from your body, but I know good juicers are expensive. We have a breville that we got on sale for $125 and love it. Other than juice detoxes, a cheaper option would to be a raw food detox. All you do is eat fruits/veggies in their raw form for a few days. If you want to go more than a few days you would have to add some nuts/flax for some protein etc.
