Re: Fever with no symptoms [Update6/8]

Shame you aren't able to get to a children's hospital. Do they think it's the same problem?

My 3 year old got sick last year, and all she could tell me was she had a headache and was tired. When I took her to the hospital they ran all sorts of tests, urine, blood, flu, etc and everything checked out fine. When they ran out of things to test, they did a spinal tap, and it turned out she had viral meningitis. She stayed a few days til she was able to get enough fluids on her own and fever quit spiking so high. It was crazy not knowing what was wrong. I have four kids and she was the only one who got sick.

Here's hoping you find answers soon!

No one is giving me answers. First they "guess it must be viral", however, both times the CRP levels dramatically reduced with iv antibiotics, which wouldn't make sense if it were viral.

She has no other symptoms, nothing. It's so hard, and I feel like we're just sticking a bandage on it. I've had nurses come in and take her temp underarm and say she doesn't have a fever, then I'll check it via ear and she'll be 104.0! Sure enough rectally it's just as high, they act surprised.

Re: Fever with no symptoms [Update6/8]

Any improvement?

I know this isn't an answer, but a similar thing happened to DD when she was about 16 months. SHe had a fever, but that's it. Doctor checked her for strep, mono, everything. We ended up taking her the ER because she woke up in the middle of the night with blue hands and lips and was shaking, apparently from the high fever. They had to catheter her and check her for a urinary tract infection. Still wasn't it. The fever passed and her Dr said it was just a virus that had to run it's course. wtf? not the answer i wanted.

I hope your LO is getting better.

Re: Fever with no symptoms [Update6/8]

My daycare baby , 11 months, just went through this. The 1st day I sent him home early because he had a 103 fever, he had no other symptoms though, was just tired and extra cuddly. He had a fever for a couple more days before he broke it, and no other symptoms. His mom even took him into the doctor to make sure it wasn't anything, and told her it was something viral his body was fighting off. Hope she breaks it soon and it turns out to be just a little viral infection thats going around.

Well, the fever is gone with antibiotics! We did not get any answers in the hospital and I had to make a huge fuss before getting a referral to see a pediatric GI specialist. We saw the specialist who was very concerned that my lo was only having bowel movements every 3-4 days and that they were (tmi) very large/solid. She tested her for celiac disease, but said that she could have some sort of infection from the stool sitting so long.

We have her on once a day Miralax, and so far so good. I'm desperately hoping that this is our answer and we don't have to go through the fevers again. Thinking back, the initial 14day fever came shortly after she really started eating solid foods, so, here's to waiting on more lab results.

We are going through something similar. Has JIA been considered?
