Bucket seat question

Is there a bucket seat that goes up to 30lbs?

I'm trying to give my brother my spare Marathon70, but he keeps insisting his graco bucket is up to 30lbs. My niece is currently 26lbs.

Yes, several. Our snugride goes to 35 lbs and some even 40 lbs.

They are usually outgrown by height before weight though, so I would make sure they know about having one inch of shell above her head.

Yes, there are, we have a Keyfit that goes to 30 lbs - but like PP said, you should make sure the child hasn't outgrown the bucket by height, as well. I think both my kids were too tall for the bucket by the time they were 22-23 pounds, and they were chubby babies.

Yep lots of them. They're not new either, the bucket I had that just expired went to 30lbs. Graco makes them up to 35 and 40lbs, Chicco makes a 30lbs keyfit, Safety First has onboard airs that go to 35lbs. Standard versions tend to only go to 22lbs, but there have been premium higher weight bucket seats for years. They're beastly to carry though - my old safeseat got REALLY heavy, and my LO was only 16lbs when it expired.

The Peg Perego SIP 30/30 goes up to 30 lbs and 30 inches, but I have a tall baby with a longer torso so we hit that height limit at 10.5 months and had to switch to the Peg Perego convertible.

Re: Bucket seat question

He probably has a Graco Snugride 30. IIRC it also has a 30" height limit, so some babies will outgrow it by height before 30 pounds.

ETA: Weird that your brother is turning down a free seat (that's really nice!). You can just give it to me instead, if it makes you feel better.

The Safeseat 1 is a now-retired model that also went to 30lbs.

Re: Bucket seat question

I have a Chicco that goes to 30 pounds. It expires in a few months, so they've been making them for awhile.

I have the Graco Click Connect and it goes up to 40 lbs. It has an adjustable base as well and I really like it, although the base is a bit bigger than other car seat's bases.
