Question Laundry!

Well my husband and I just did our budget for the month and for the mean time we are doing very well but come April/May, our baby will be here and our income will go down by half. My dear dear husband is so nervous about this, we will have enough money but there will be zero wiggle room.

As we were talking about things we can do and what not, I said I could do the laundry by hand. (Currently our apt does not have a w/d) We have been doing laundry at my parents once a week (they live about 10min away), but obviously once a week laundry with CD isn't doable (at least I can't imagine it being).

My friend has a washer, so I thought about asking her if I could come over a couple times a week (might not be fun packing up the baby all the time but I am willing).

I was also thinking laundry mat (which would make our driving go up).

Maybe getting an apt with w/d (our contract is up soon)but this would more than likely increase our rent and I am not sure what the added costs of utilities would be.

Ideas?

Re: Laundry!

i've seen mention of portable washers that hook up to your sink. lots of people here recommend them, then you can jsut line dry inside. maybe someone will come with one they've used

Theres this little washer you can buy online. Its hand powered and uses no electricity. Dh is getting me one along with another clothes line for line drying. To help us save on our water bill and electricity bill in our new place.

Re: Laundry!

So the wonderwash is looking pretty good (I am only in initial phases of looking at portable and hand powered washers) it will let me do diapers at home and still do my main amount of laundrys at my parents once a week.

but what do I do in the winter? Just string my clothes in my house, is that the only option?

If you use flats CD laundry is doable once per week. Ask on the chatter forum what people do for washing once per week.
