I've donated over 120,000oz(was an EPer/oversupply with the first!), I met parents on Livejournal, milkshare, lll groups...all over. I befriended some of the long term recipients, it was a great coping method for my loss of nursing.
![]() I love milkshare as a group. I don't do social networking sites, so I am unfamiliar with the Facebook groups, but I definitely felt happy with milkshare.

Re: Donating Breastmilk
I joined all the fb groups and registered with milk share. Im definitely leaning towards milk share and spent a lot of time tonight reading the boards. The need is heartbreaking and Im SO glad I know of this now. Wish I could start donating now.

A lot of people think that because milk banks charge for bm they are profiting. They are not. They pay for every donor and every potential donor to have expensive blood testing. Then they offer to replace or provide storage bags. Then they pay for overnight shipping of milk for many donors who dont live in driving distance. Then they pay to pastuerize and culture the milk and then, finally for it to be bottled and shipped to its destination. Not to mention the salaries of the skeleton crew that does all of this, the equipment, and the physical space. Most milk banks are barely able to make ends meet on a monthly basis.
That being said, I have donated to a baby I found on HM4HB facebook page, a baby from a local cloth diapering page and a milk bank.
