crochet vs knit soaker

I do not know how to knit, but I can crochet and want to make a wool soaker for my new baby. Do the crocheted soakers work just as well as knitted?

Re: crochet vs knit soaker

some people say they are more bullet proof because crochet is "thicker" than knit. You will just go through more yarn when you crochet vs knit.

I crocheted a few soakers for dd when I was pregnant (never used them tho )

I'd probably just use a 4mm hook and do the whole thing in single crochet.

Re: crochet vs knit soaker

I used to be a WAHM and sold crocheted soakers, shorties, and longies. They were bulletproof. I would find a pattern that is all single stitch. And, once you get your pattern down, an experienced crocheter can find all sorts of ways to make them unique....appliques, embroidery, stripes etc.

I sometimes miss the creative experience, but it was stressful to keep up with orders and not profitable enough to be worth it.
