do PUL inners (AI2 or PF + cover) cause more poop explosions?

Are AI2s with PUL inners (or trifolded prefolds/flats + a cover with a PUL inner) more prone to poop explosions than AI2s/covers with microfleece/suedecloth/etc inners? It seems like the grippiness of a fabric inner might help contain poop, especially EBF poop.

eta:Should have specified trifolded pfs and covers...something that functions like an ai2.

Not at all, IME. My girls skinny chicken legs get a better seal if there's no other fabric in between them and the waterproof PUL.

Prefolds and covers were the most bullet-proof for us

I actually switched to cloth - specifically, pf+ cover - because of the ebf poopsplosion situation. Worked for us! Though I admit I never tried ai2's...

From about 6m on we only used AI2 (grovia) and tri-fold prefolds and bummis covers (expose PUL). We never had a poo explosion in cloth.

Newborn to 6m, we use the grovia, we also snappi-ed on prefolds (possible tri-fold as well I'm sure) and tried other various diapers - fitteds, pockets, hemp/cotton inserts in PUL covers....

It's an interesting idea but I don't think it plays out. Also the softbum echo has fleece inner and the grovia has a mesh inner -- so AI2s without exposed pul

We use half pockets, half prefolds + covers, and the only poosplosion I ever had was in a pocket, and it was because I hadn't closed the diaper tight enough so there was a gap and it came out the leg. Otherwise, if the fit is good around the back, I think both are equally good.

I don't think we have ever had a poop leak onto clothing with a Flip cover and we have used them on 3 different kids, even when they have been sick.
