If you chose a curriculum for Pre-K, what did you use?

My youngest is going to be 4 in just 4 days. I'd like to start him in Pre-K. Up until now, he has done worksheets, listening to stories and kind of tagging along with his other 2 brothers. He just started Reading Eggs, can recognize the alphabet, some letter sounds and most numbers up to 20-25. He'll mess up here or there but he's consistent for the most part. He can also read or sound out sight words such as cat, sat, etc.

If you were to choose a Pre-K curriculum what did or would you choose? I'm looking at Abeka K4 or possibly Christian Light Education. I'm using CLE with the other 2 boys and like it. My oldest, who is now 17yrs old, did Abeka in a private Pre-K and he entered Kindergarten being able to read and write and was ahead of the other kindergarteners when I transferred him into public school kindergarten.

The only reason, I'm hesitant on committing to doing CLE with my youngest is that he tends to do better with color pictures. For example, if I give him a worksheet in B&W that he needs to pick out which one is different, he'll just guess at it unless it's completely different than the others. If they are in color, he can get it pretty accurately.

I did buy but haven't started Get Ready for the Code Primer A and Handwriting without Tears for Pre-K but I'd like to know what all of my options are.

We used:
Hooked on Phonics (I'd place your son in K)
Cheap math workbooks from Mardel
2 Devotional books that were pretty cheap
HWOT

I hear so many good things about Abeka though...I'm sure that would be great too!

Re: If you chose a curriculum for Pre-K, what did you use?

We used some cheap workbooks more for fun.....but my son loved and did awesome with flash cards, so we learned all of our letters and letter sounds with flash cards!! Now towards the end of the year we are putting sounds together and learning to read .

I also used the my first handwriting without tears book, or should say still are using.

I think whatever is fun, if he gets stressed we back off. Also READ a lot to them .

Our go-to pre-k curriculum is Letter of the Week. http://www.letteroftheweek.com/index.html
I've been very pleased with how it prepared my kids for the full A Beka K5 program for kindergarten.

I chose Flowering Baby level 5 (ages4-5). It is very flexible and varied. With it I'll be adding in reading instruction/phonics and k math.
