Sad that people don't follow through. I'm totally an "if I say I will - I will", so here I go trying to find a few more people willing to try I guess. But I won't have my hopes up anymore, I won't tell DS unless we actually get some books.

I just participated in one recently. It was sort of a bummer because only two people so far sent any books to us, which I don't get because honestly, why agree to participate if you won't follow through? But I did my part, and it was still fun to receive a few books in the mail (for some reason each person sent us a book for each kid, so we have gotten 4 books so far, and I assume that's all we'll get because it's been awhile). But, for the cost of a few stamps (for the letters) and then the price of the one book I sent, we still came out ahead.

I'm glad you at least had a good experience. It's totally true, at least you got more than 1 back.

Thanks for the good luck. My problem so far is that I can only find 3 people even willing to participate. At least I think the 3 I have will do it (assuming they can then find people to do it, etc.)

So I guess next time I'll just say no (lol) but it sounded like such a fun idea.

You might get a couple more people to 'participate' if you tell them they don't have to pass the letter on - just send each child on the list a book and call it good. Last time I tried (was helping a desperate friend out) I got a couple people to just do that. You don't get as much as the pyramid scheme says you will but it is better than nothing.

That's true about getting more people to do it if they don't have to pass the letter on, but wouldn't that then leave my kid without getting anything? Not that it's really important, at least that way the other kid would get more - so it's a good point.

Isn't your kids name at the bottom of the list? He'd get a Couple of books if they sent a book to everyone on the list. At least that is how the ones I've done have worked out.

If she's doing the same one I did, she wouldn't get any books if the people she mailed letters to also didn't mail them out. The people I mailed letters to had to send books to the person who sent ME the letter. (Sounds more confusing than it really is, haha.)

I would do it if we got like 30 people to agree to do it. but I'm not sure I could find 5-6 people on my own willing.

I know it seems like it's such a great deal. I don't know why people don't want to actually do it.
