Just curious what the general consensus is on the name "Emelia". Not expecting, nor would we likely end up with a girl if we were. Just settling a debate with DH

My husband's grandmother was Emelia, although she went by Amy most of the time. So its not a made up spelling (or it was made about 90 years ago )

I voted other because I think it's a totally different name and I find myself wanting to pronounce it with a long E sound instead of the 'uh' sound of the A in Amelia.

I would say it's two different names...Emelia has the "eeee" sound whereas Amelia is the "uhhh"

I sort of assumed that part. Maybe I should have made that more clear. We we were talking about names we would like for a future dd if we ever had another girl and discussing some really odd spellings/variants of names that we've come across recently. DH has an oddly spelled name (his mom pretty much just made it up) and it drives him crazy. All our kids have very traditional easily spelled names because of it.

This poll was mostly for fun, but I was sort of curious what people thought of the name. We couldn't ever use the name Amelia but both LOVE it, because our dd and oldest son have A names (Anna and Alexander) but our other boys do not. A names are just totally ruled out LOL. We couldn't ever use the Emilia version because it likely would be mispronounced like "Emily-uh" and our niece has a name that is similar to Emily. He suggested that Emelia was a totally acceptable variation (pronounced Eh-melia) and that it just a slightly more unusual form of the name. Since he's always been so odd about names being spelled correctly I just had to poll DS mamas to see if you guys thought it sounded made up
