I pay 170 plus tip. It depends on the level of the stylist. If she has more experience it will cost more.

Have you thought of going to a beauty school? They get the practice hours and you pay quite a bit less.

Re: s/o hair thread

When I went into the city to a nice salon with trendy and popular stylists, I paid $160 for cut and color. It was great.

Now I go to a small, two stylist, salon in our mini-mall in our little town, I pay $75 for eyebrow wax, cut, and color and have for 3 years. The conversation isn't as stimulating, the surroundings aren't plush or stylish, the color is great, the cut is fine. Same products, just without all the flair, you know? It isn't an escape, a girls outing, or a spa pampering. But, nice ladies, my hair looks good and its less than half the price and its 5 minutes away. Its a keeper!

I paid $80 including tip yesterday. I was there 2.5 hours, too. Heavy highlights and just the slightest trim. And eyebrow wax.

I pay $20 for a full wash/cut/blow dry. If I do color too it's $30 total.

I go to a small privately owned salon with 3 stylists there. I get hair color, cut, washed, styled, dried & my eye brows waxed for $55. I've been a long time customer though.

I think the price is on the higher end but not unreasonable. It's been many years, but I used to get all over color, highlights, a cut and an eye brow wax for about $140 after tip at a nice but not top end salon. If you look around, you can probably find something cheaper, but unless you've got a friend or connection in the industry, I doubt you'll find someone quality for significantly less. That's why I don't color my hair anymore!

When I still went to my "fancy" stylist, it was about $85 + tip for wash/cut/style plus color. If the color involved multiple colors, it was a bit more. I loved it but she booked way in advance and it just got too hard to keep going. Now I pay $15 for a cut and style and my hair color is officially natural, root to tip, for the first time in many years.

I am flirting with the idea of peekaboos, though.

Re: s/o hair thread

I think it depends on the area. When I lived in a big city, a cut was $100 plus tip (usually $120). In my current city, I can get an equivalent cut for $55 plus tip (usually $65.) I never colour my hair though, so I have no idea about the cost for that.

I've paid 250 before. It has been since 12/11 since I got a cut and color and need one desperately!
