How do I tell what kind of CDs I have?

I have a mixed bag of pocket diapers from Craigslist mamas, some Alvas, some FuzziBunz, some Nubunz, a Happy Flute and a handful of Bum Genius, along with some prefolds and covers. I'm wondering:

1. how I can tell which .0 the Bum Genius are (it doesn't say on the tag)? They have snaps in the front to make them fit little babies and velcro/aplix at for the fastener, but I'm not sure what the difference is between the editions or really whether it matters.

2. whether the covers I have are modern covers or old-style plastic pants. They were sold as covers but feel way more plastic than the PUL of the pocket diapers, and I didn't know enough to know what questions to ask when I bought them. The tags on all are worn completely away, I don't have brand names of any sort. And does it matter? They work, or they probably will (they are too big for my baby right now), but what is the advantage of modern covers over the old-fashioned ones?

Thanks!

Okay!

Bum Genius photos:

Any idea which .0 that is? I'm not totally sure of the differences, but we like these and would like to get more of them.

Covers, two different kinds
Type 1:

Inside does not quite seem like PUL to me:

Type 2:

Plastic-feeling inside with mesh:

Are these plastic pants or modern covers? Is there any benefit to the modern covers versus the old style, if that's what these are? They're too big for my LO right now, so we haven't started using them, but I seem to remember hearing that plastic pants can cause/exacerbate diaper rash so if that's what these are I'm not sure I'll ever use them.

Thanks!

Re: How do I tell what kind of CDs I have?

not sure about the bumgenius.. Can you access the elastic I know thta is a more recent feature.

The first covers looks like a diaperaps which is a good cover they are now sold under the brand name sage diapers..

http://sagediaper.com/diaperapsreg_diaper_covers.html

the second almost looks like a dappi velcro though I don't reconginze the color pattern. Its a decent cover actually. Not super high quality but not bad at all eaither The inner is a nylon waterproofing I believe.

http://www.babybestbuy.com/dappi-diaper-covers-277.html (actually they do show one with similar coloring)

"plastic pants" I believe we pull on style and rubber-y feelilng.

the best why to tell bg 3.0 and 4.0 and to turn inside out and check if you can easily get at the elastic or not. if not 3.0, if so 4.0. If you like them, the 4.0 are slightly larger but otherwise fit the same as the 3.0 for us - so it might not matter.

Re: How do I tell what kind of CDs I have?

I was once trying to figure out which version of BG I had and I googled it. I came across the descriptions of each version and compared what I had. It turned out to be a 2.0 and I figured it out from the online description.

Not sure about the brand of your covers but agree that I don't think they would be considered the old plastic pants. The "plastic pants" were pull up style like the newer dappi pants versions.

The BG looks exactly like the 3.0s that I had. But I can't say for sure.

Re: How do I tell what kind of CDs I have?

For the Bum Genius...

It is not a 1.0 because of the tag.

I doubt it's a 4.0 but it is if the leg elastic is not fully encased at the ends - yours doesn't show that in the picture.

If there's a strip of PUL across the top inside (up against baby's tummy) then it's a 3.0, but if the inner fabric just goes all the way to the top it's a 2.0.
