You can take out the rubber stopper and re squeeze, it will give a better contact.

This. Also, if your two layers of fabric are thin, you may have trouble getting the prong down as far as it needs. I think kam snaps say up to six layers of t-shirt material for the regular prong ones. I would try adding another layer and see if that fixes it. You can also trim off the prong a bit if you can't add a layer but that is a pain IMO.

oh, I'm going to try this too!

when I used 4 layers of fabric I had snaps popping off because it was too thick once I really LOVE the idea of snaps, but the application of them is driving me a little crazy!!

Re: Kam snaps not snapping

Okay, I got them to the point of snapping enough that they don't pop open on their own, and I get an unsnapping sound when I undo them, but not a snap sound when I do do them.... I'm pretty sure my prong squisher piece is not ventered to the die, so I've found that rotating the snap and squishing from different degrees of the circle seems to have helped. This is completely ridiculous though, it should be MUCH easier!!

Re: Kam snaps not snapping

I know the kamsnaps website offers some tips on how to remove snaps. The only one I remember off-hand is to melt the prong with the heated fork tip then pop the socket right off. i'm not sure if i can post the website here directly, otherwise i would have without making you type it in yourself. sry!

i do enjoy reading all these threads and replies though because i plan to purchase a KAM press this week to start sewing CD...and all the bad reviews on babyville pliers/KAM pliers made me (and DH) think it's worth it!

Good Luck!
Keep me/us posted!

Sometimes the heat does that. Sorry. Try repressing, it usually corrects it.
