Re: Considering ignoring doc's orders...

I have not but my mom did. She had a miscarriage at 13wks before she had me. She was told to wait 2 to 3 months, they waited about a month...and here I am.

Re: Considering ignoring doc's orders...

Thanks for the responses, mamas! I just didn't understand the point in waiting. Maybe if I had been further along or it didn't happen naturally... but I feel pretty normal (with the exception of still emotional - in fact, more emotional than I ever would have imagined I would be...)...

Re: Considering ignoring doc's orders...

for your loss. m/c suck.

We haven't ever waited after our losses, either. Some of them we conceived the very next cycle, some we didn't - of those, there was no rhyme or reason to success or not

If you had a d&c I could see waiting a couple cycles before trying again, only because that can really thin out the uterine lining which could lead to troubles implanting for another bean. But with a natural m/c, I wouldn't worry about it.

That's all on a physical level, though. If, emotionally, you feel like you should wait, then by all means you should.

I don't know what the waiting recommendations are based on. I haven heard for dating purposes and all. I just had an early MC too this past month and I was told no sex while bleeding and I could start right away. She did mention that my cycle might be off this month.

Re: Considering ignoring doc's orders...

the main reason they want you to wait a few cycles is for easier dating

that being said...we never waited. After my first m/c we got pregnant right after (however lost that baby too). After the 2nd m/c we tried right away and got pregnant 7 months later with dd.

Got pregnant October 2011, m/c December 2011...and finally got pregnant again December 2012. This one is sticky ... already 12 weeks.

Re: Considering ignoring doc's orders...

I miscarried a couple of months ago at 7 weeks. Doc told me to resume trying as soon as bleeding stopped. I asked her about waiting because when I lost one about 15 years ago at the same point the doc had told me to wait two cycles. My current doc said they used to recommend that for dating purposes, but that sonograms are much better at estimating the dates, so they no longer worry about it.
