prodromal labor

please tell me I'm not the only one! i've been having contractions, pretty strong, off and on since Sunday!! twice I've thought I was in real labor and started timing them, i was 6 minutes apart for 45 minutes, then I took a bath and a nap, and they were GONE.... it;s VERY frustrating! I would be fine with waiting if it weren't so damn painful!

Re: prodromal labor

I know it can suck. I've had prodromal labour starting at 34+4 with both my full-term pregnancies. It's also been particularly persistent since Sunday for me, every single morning. Actually, we even thought Sunday was go time and started to get all set up, then it fizzled out around dinner. On the plus sides: 1. Your body is doing work now that you won't have to do later - effacement, even if no dilation is apparent. 2. It's a great opportunity to practice your labour comfort measures, I use it to go into hypnosis. Hang in there, mama!

Re: prodromal labor

yep, first time experiencing it but it's really not bothering me all that much... started on Tuesday, nothing today and yesterday though. It's usually 5-6 hours of contractions 10 min apart lasting around 30 sec, but they kicked up to 5 min apart. Nothing stops them, laying down, shower, water... except going to sleep. Like I said physically it's not bothering me because for some reason, I kinda like contractions, even in labor... until transition! But it's kinda maddening to keep thinking you are in labor and then for nothing to happen! I'm40w3d now.

I had it for 8 days with ds2. The past week I've had good contractions all day every other day.

I've had stronger contractions for a few days (currently almost 39 wks); they'll get closer together and I'll start timing them, only to find them inconsistent and eventually fizzle out. It's maddening, trying to keep track and figure out "is it time?!" And since I'm not sleeping, I think about it all night, too. *sigh*
