Re: best CD for the diaper bag

I loved GroVia hybrids for the diaper bag because they didn't take up much room. Depending on how long I would be going out, I would bring 2-4 soakers and 1-2 extra shells. A small wetbag was usually enough for the 2-3 dirties I would bring home.

I use swaddlebees simplex os. I will have 2 in cloth come April and once out of the nb stage will have 10-12 simplexes. It depends on we're I am going and for how long but for now I typically carry 2 and 4-5 for longer trips

OS Simplex are my favorites too. The number totally depends on how long we'll be out. I think I have 9. I also have 5 BGEs that I will use in the diaper bag but they aren't nearly as bulletproof for us.

Re: best CD for the diaper bag

I like AI2, especially for diaperbag. I never left diapers in the bag, I didn't feel I had enough covers for that... and honestly if I didn't pack for the day that day, I would be more likely not to check the number and come up short. I always packed 1 extra cover and 2 more inserts than I thought I would need. We used Grovia with cotton inserts and prefolds and bummis covers at the end of our diapering days. We had a SMALL diaperbag (ergo backpack) and though sometimes it would be stuffed we were good (though I didn't bring much extra clothes).

Earlier on it was likely to be the gDiapers -- that was the hybrid we used until size large.

So I would generally try to do the grovias because they take up less room. I'd make sure he was wearing one and pack one more with an insert and 2+ more inserts depending on how many i thought I needed. Otherwise I would do the same but with the bummis and prefolds. Occasionally, if needed, I might be both, but didn't have much rooms for that. In a pinch I could swap the inserts and covers but I didn't like to and don't recall doing it.
