Re: Limited budget CD for newborn and up
I would do flats and covers. Flips are 2 for $20 right now, CB also has white Econobum seconds for $5.

Re: Limited budget CD for newborn and up
I am not sure when she will have any money for more! She is not currently working (the baby is 1 week old) and the dad is not in the picture aka not helping. I do believe her mom is helping her but I am not sure how much money she can put towards it. Ideally whatever she gets would last her at least a few months so she could save and get something different.

Re: Limited budget CD for newborn and up
looks like the link may no longer be valid
http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/....php?t=1492221 Most people are going to recommend flats and they are cheap but not for everyone. Not sure what this 18 year old is like but she might be very imtimated even pad folding. You would have to be the judge of that.. (excuse the jumping around below) Cotton babies still has some seconds with free shipping both of these are just covers with no absorbency http://www.cottonbabies.com/index.php?cPath=51 If she only has about $50 I would say not to spend it all at once. Generally speaking for most newborns it is not cost effective to do cloth over cheep newborn sposies. Unless the baby stays small for a while. Maybe get 2 of the covers above then a couple sets of prefolds: http://www.cottonbabies.com/product_...oducts_id=2631 Keep trying until baby fits in them and look for deals. could do this as well.... but again all in one thing... http://www.cottonbabies.com/product_...oducts_id=2533 looks for deals: doesn't have to be all or nothing can use sposies while building a stash that works.

Re: Limited budget CD for newborn and up
Checking links now. Yes she has enough disposable or darn near I think to get her out of newborn stuff I believe. I think we are going to concentrate on smalls and infant size stuff etc. We have talked and she is okay doing prefolds and covers but I think it might just a tri-fold at first until she gets more comfortable. We are hoping to at least get her a 1.5 day supply to start so she can do laundry daily but still have a few to get her through the next day until all is done.

Re: Limited budget CD for newborn and up
Do any of you guys have opinons on Alvas OS? I am part of a co-op that is currently taking orders and they are about 3.80 each diaper. I am considering ordering her 5 of those out of my own money because they are inexpensive right now.

Re: Limited budget CD for newborn and up
I like my alvas! They are cut a little bigger then Sunbabys so they are good for my pudgy baby.

Re: Limited budget CD for newborn and up
I'm in a co-op on facebook right now to get newborn covers for $2.50/ea and OS covers for $3.50/ea. Is she on fb? PM me and maybe we can get her added to the co-op thread.

Craigslist for used cloth diaper stuff. Depends in deals... $50 dollars can get some good prefolds and covers. I suggest to skip newborn cloth diaper stuff and get one size. My baby fit one size by 2nd month fine. I would look into diaper safari Onesize covers ( they were on sale for BOGO )or 2nds on flip covers ( cottonbabies always have 2nd sales). Get prefolds or flats via Craigslist for cheap. Ideally 24 prefolds ( large size is fine, I just fold it down a bit) and 4 covers.
