UPDATED with blanket! Hand dyeing an organic bamboo velour rainbow

The rainbow bug has bitten me badly! I received a roll of organic bamboo velour in last week, and the very first thing I dyed up was a rainbow!

I admit it, I am one of those types of people who tries to be everything to everyone. Sometimes I need a reminder to stop and do something for myself every one in a while.

It started off with 6 buckets of undyed organic bamboo velour:

A little dye is added

Some more water, and soda ash to set the dye

A rainbow is created!

It is at this point that I realized how much I wanted to make something for ME with it. While talking with a friend, she encouraged me to just go ahead and do it. And so squares are cut:

Little ones loved piecing this together. They practiced their pattern following

The front is pieced together!

And then at this point I realize that I need to dye more fabric for the backside. Back to the dye bucket, and this piece is born

Here is the finished front

Here is the finished back

Remember how I said I wanted to do something for myself? Well I share with my littlest love ♥

Love it!! I've been dying to make myself a scrappy quilt with some OBV leftovers. Can I ask... did you serge your pieces together or just sew them together with a regular machine quilt-style?
