flying with seat
Does your carseat fit through the xray machines at the airport? Every single time, the TSA people spend forever trying to make mine (Graco Size4Me, it's huge) fit, ask me if it comes apart, try to recline it.... Half the seats out there couldn't possibly fit, right? Why are they always so surprised?

Re: flying with seat
When I've been to the airport (which isn't all that often, really), I rarely have seen seats that aren't infant seats. And, our boulevards fit through the machines, and those are pretty big seats. So I'm thinking that the number of seats that are too big to fit through a machine and actually get taken to the gate (rather than left home or checked with baggage) is probably very small.

Re: flying with seat
It depends. I just flew with DDs Safety 1st Avenue. It fit through the machine in Huntsville with the GoGoBaby (the wheelie attachment) still attached but did not fit through the one in Atlanta. I even offered to detach the GoGoBaby from it for them to check it out and they told me not to worry about it. I didn't see how they checked it out as I was putting my shoes back on and grabbing our bags but it didn't take long at all.

DS's Maestro got stuck in Ft. Lauderdale. It took them 45 minutes to get it out, and the tore the cover.

Re: flying with seat
Mine never does. I stopped trying after the first flight and just ask them to hand check it. It takes a few minuets but no one has ever given me an issue about it.

I've flown several times with infant seats and high back booster seats using airports in GA, SC, TX & MI. None of them have ever made me put either seat through the xray machine. Instead, they wand it and visually inspect it. Maybe they could do that for you if you ask?

We fly with our radian, and it fits. But, it folds, of course.

Re: flying with seat
OMG, I'd be so pissed if they messed our seat up! They always end up hand checking it, but they spend like 5 minutes trying first. I tell them that I know it's not going to fit, but they act like it's an entirely foreign concept. Oh well, I will be doing my best not to fly with dd again for a long time

My safe seat bucket, true fit premier, complete air, and my ride have fit. Putting them upside down is the key!
