Chapter books for a 3 year old

I'd love to start out with some chapter books for my 3.5 year old daughter. The thing is, when I've looked I find ones that are meant for 7 year olds who are in school. And so a lot of them have topics that are too grown up for her, like witches and talk about boys. My daughter is easily scared (we got 1 page into the "Magic Treehouse" series before she asked me to stop) and I'm trying to stay away from princess/ fairy themes. The one we have so far is the Mr. Toad series, anything else to check out?

I liked Nate the Great books. He's a detective. They are a chapter book but are pleasant to read aloud. I enjoyed the stories with my kids and there is nothing scary.

I'm interested too. We also have Frog and Toad and currently the kids are enjoying Beatrix Potter's classics and Winnie the Pooh. I have Pinocchio but they don't love it.

I start at just before age 2 reading chapter books before bed. We always read the Little House books from Martha to Rose, Hitty her first hundred years, and Charlotte's Web. I will see what else can think of.

Rainbow Magic Fairy books are simple and not scary. Dd1 liked them at 3. They are very predictable after you've read one which is kind of what dd liked about them. Dd2 wouldn't sit for a chapter book at 3 but those were some of her first favorites when she started listening to chapter books.

The Ralph books by Beverly Cleary (Mouse and the Motorcycle is one)
My Fathers Dragon
Books by Clyde Robert Bulla
Grandmas Attic
Magic School Bus
There are series that go with the Little House books, but are not actual Little House books. They are new and about Laura's mom, grandma, and great grandma. If you hit the library and ask, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Winnie the Pooh! The A. A. Milne version. There's a brilliant audiobook of it read by Alan Bennett. We grew up on it, and I can't wait to start my daughter on it.

Mary Poppins, although the language might be a bit complicated.

The Wind In the Willows - I never enjoyed it, but my sisters were devoted to it.

We're reading the Oz books. They do have some weird stuff (like, a boy got a fox head in what we read recently), but my dd doesn't find it scary.

We really enjoyed "The Flying Flea, Callie and Me".

Best friends wear Pink tutus was cute..and short.

Also, it's been a long time, but I think we also enjoyed the Little Bill chapter books. They were a little too short to read for the long term, but she liked them.
