Re: Basically it's Thursday

Good morning all. I am at school with 4 boxes of Girl Scout cookies...this could be dangerous.

Should be a boring day, this is good. I did find out the head teacher is leaving for a funeral this morning so lets hope that nothing major happens while she is out of the building.

Sorry about the BB, Jess. That stinks.

Hope the appt goes well, Janine.

Ugh about buses and snow Mel. I agree, there is as much snow today as yesterday but no snow day. I guess because all the roads were already plowed and just need touch-ups. Ginger actually has a field trip today, LOL.
Well the good news is she only has a sore throat, nothing bad that would require ABX.

The bad news is she has a possible spine issue that needs looking at. When she stands up (from a bent-at-the-waist position) one side of her ribs comes up before the other and one shoulder is lower than the other when she stands.

What doctors appointments do you have?

I have a sono of my thyroid today. Hopefully it doesn't result in another aspiration thing yuck
I'm glad Stella is enjoying school.

Not sure what the first bit about the superintendent was but I hope it is ok.

for your thyroid appointment.

Happy no snow day Cheryl! We have been having lots of 2 hr late starts, which I like. Sleep in, don't miss work and still have alone time in the afternoon.
If the closing doesn't go through today DH is leaving tomorrow, for an undetermined amount of time.
Was he always a Pastor?

I hope things work out on the closing Jess...that would be rough.

Re: Basically it's Thursday

I got Derry an appointment; next week on Friday at 12pm...I'll have to talk to my boss about switching my hours around so I can take her but it will be fine.

First they didn't think they could see her until the 20th. But I told them she's in pain and what the doctor told me that she could see and suddenly they found they did have an appointment free.

Yes Janine, Jess's Dad has always been a pastor.

Jess hope the closing happens.

Janine hope Derry's back issue ends up being minor.

Just got a call, dentist has a cancellation for 4 today so can start on some of Jerry's work that needs doing. This is good. Changed dinner to breakfast for dinner since he will need to eat soft stuff tonight.

Re: Basically it's Thursday

Back. I went to see my therapist and my chiropractor. YK, to get wound into knots and then have them worked out again. Speaking of, has Derry been x-rayed for spine stuff? I have one leg slightly longer than the other, so that puts everything outta whack, including one side of ribs that do not play well when I bend over. So my chiro says, that kind of stuff does not show up when you take a back xray laying down like you do when you go to a ortho doctor/hossy for an xray. But when you take an xray standing up, like chiros do in the US, you can see exactly where everything does not line up where it should.

I want to hear about the school too Kari. I am with Jen that public schools are often better equipped to deal with those that have IEPs/special needs. But of course it depends on the school and what support network they have.

I need dinner party advice. In another post.

Re: Basically it's Thursday

THe school was awesome! Th principal was very nice and showed me all around. He told me i could come back with Jack also. I really like their approach to reading which Jack struggles with. THey use a center based approach and also have 3 reading specialists on staff. They evaluate the kids 3x per year, and each group reads books on their own lever. so the whole class might not be reading the same book Every day they start the day with a school wide assembly in the gym.. He said they try to push positive reinforcement. They hallways are covered with kids names that got "caught" being kind THey also have a start student from each grade every month and have a special bar paw on the wall with their name. In the gym they had music playing and kids being kids. and on the recess topic obviously if a child misbehaves they lose recess, however in his time there a whole class has never lost recess. HE says they stress personal responsibility
