Found this carrier at the local thrift shop for $4, good deal? (Balboa Baby)

I've never heard of this sling, but it seems to be well made and not a cheapo one from walmart. Is it comfortable? I was hoping to use it with our baby that's due in June, along with our Ergo and sleepy wrap.

Balboa baby makes good products! I have never tried their sling but I love their highchair cover. Very good quality!

It's not necessarily a bad sling, but you do have to be more careful about the baby's positioning than with many other carriers. This link explains it pretty well: http://www.sleepingbaby.net/safety.php
You may want to wait until your baby is a bit older before you use it.

yes, that link has some excellent information. After looking at a picture of this sling I am surprised it is not recalled. Looks a lot like the dangerous bag-slings like the Infantio that were recalled

I probably wouldn't use it. Looks to be a bag sling design. The infantino brand bag sling was recalled a while back because you really can't get good safe positioning in it. For some reason, there are still some brands which make a similar bag sling design. I'd avoid that type of sling.
