Mini Minimalist Challenge: 3/4-3/8

The Mini Minimalist Challenge runs each week from Monday-Friday. Weekends can be used as catch up days, and would be a great time to drop off donations. Before & After pictures (or any other progress photos) are encouraged!

I will post the entire 5 days all at once, in case you would like to plan ahead or work out of order. Keep in mind that not all challenges will be relevant for every person or every home. If you find a challenge that does not need to be done, or is in an area of your home that you do not have, either consider it a day off or focus on an area that you really do need to work on.

If you're feeling extra motivated, this is also a good time to wipe down surfaces or vacuum areas that don't usually get much attention. You can consolidate items, eliminate packaging, or reorganize while working on the challenge in that area... but it's okay if you don't!

The goal will be to purge 5 things from each area. You may find more and you may find less, but you want to aim for at least 5 whenever possible. If you stick to just the minimum, you will purge 25 things from your home every week! Comment with your progress and to encourage others, and share with us your successes and struggles.

If you are new, feel free to jump right in where you are! Don't feel like you need to backtrack or catch up to us.

Week #10

Monday 3.4.13: Purge 5 "textile" items. Towels, rags, cloth wipes, linens, curtains, fabric, etc.

Tuesday 3.5.13: Purge 5 clothing items.

Wednesday 3.6.13: Purge 5 items of paper clutter.

Thursday 3.7.13: Purge 5 things from a "pile" or messy area you have in your home (I can't be alone in having a few of these, right?).

Friday 3.8.13: Your choice! Purge 5 items from a problem area. Focus on an area that you've been procrastinating on, that you pretend doesn't exist, that has gotten out of control, or that feels like it is too big for you to tackle because it overwhelms you. We can do it.

BONUS TASK #1: Clear off and dust all of the flat surfaces in your living room (tables, shelves, etc.). Only put back what belongs on those surfaces, and return anything else to where it belongs.

BONUS TASK#2: Give your stove top a good scrubbing.

BONUS TASK #3: Wipe down your washer and dryer while you're doing some laundry this week.

BONUS TASK #4: Find some time this week to pamper yourself. Schedule a massage, paint your nails, take a bubble bath, or whatever helps you feel a bit more pampered, beautiful, or appreciated.

Can I skip to the last bonus task? Haha. I need a break. I have a baby sick with coxsackie virus, another with swollen lymph nodes, a 12 yr old dramariffic son that won't go to bed& I am low on sleep. Mama is exhausted!

Of course! Did I forget to mention that the last bonus is the most important one, and should be given priority above all the other tasks and challenges this week? Hang in there mama!

Monday: 3 towels (using them for painting then chucking them) and 4 awful blackout curtains. Already have new to me white pretty curtains to put up. Monday is done. Now to finish painting the bedroom trim. Ugg what a pain.

Re: Mini Minimalist Challenge: 3/4-3/8

Oh man, I really should have taken some before pics. Visiting my mom this week, and have helped her clear out so much! She did a bunch before we came, then today we dropped off for electronic recycling: 2 old computer monitors, 3 old computer cases, 1 old typewriter, and 1 old TV. Also disposed of 2 old printers, and 3 old keyboards! It was like a computer museum!

Then, when I needed to do some laundry today, it was piled so high I couldn't access the controls, so I kept sorting until I could and ended up with two big bags of towels and bedding for the trash, and 2 bags for donation!

So definitely got the "textiles", and "pile" tasks done :-) The hardest part is just letting my mom lead and letting it be her doing this, not me; it's so hard restraining myself!

^ Great job! I hate when I forget to take a before photo, I do it all the time and then kick myself for it. I've been having fun taking pictures of the piles of stuff I purge, though.

Awesome job!

Today is going to be hard as I don't have many clothing items myself. But I can weed through DS's clothing. He has way to much and wears the same things over and over.
I've got al the trim completely painted in my bedroom. Hoping the walls go fast so I can do today's challenge.
