This isn't a true curriculum, but a cool book. It is called ScienceArts and teaches different science concepts through art projects.

i dont know what u consider affordable, but we use and love noeo science. it is experiment rich and has fantastic books. everything u need to do the experiments come in the kits. we love it. no prep work either.

I have not started teaching it yet, but I just received McRuffy Science for 1st grade and it looks great. Lots of hands on activities, games and easy to follow Teacher's Manual. It also meets most state standards. I bought the manipulative kit too.

I looked through the McRuffy sample and it looks good. I don't remember doing any science at all in first grade even though I went to a public school with a good reputation. That was 30 years ago, though, so is this just another way education has changed in the past few decades or was my education just lacking at that point? Btw, sorry to thread hijack.

We don't do any formal science until 2nd grade in our house.

We used this this year for our 3 kids and I think you could certainly work this for 1st grade. It has lots of hands on activities using everyday items and has the added benefit of having the entire Life Science curriculum at no sost

We use Mr. Q as well, it is great because you can add on for older kids or help out the younger ones. It does require a lot of support for a 1st grader but it is such a nice little program. We will probably use more of his curric.

My son is using R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey, Life science, right now and loving it. It's very hands on and easy to do at your own pace.
