Re: Basically it's Thursday

We ate school lunch everyday. My Mom was a WOHM and my Dad a WOHD. Eating school lunch was easier than packing 7 lunches everyday. I don't have a problem with school lunches. I am not apposed to MH eating lunch at school next year, she eats breakfast here now. Next year we would have to pay but the food is worth the cost. The cook at the charter school does GREAT! In our district in NM they have greatly improved the quality of school lunch. We don't serve CRAP at our schools in the district. There is a law making its way through the legislator at the state level right now requiring districts to buy NM grown produce!

That is awesome about the law being (hopefully) passed. So far the menus I have seen at his school are not wowing me. Hopefully it will look better next year .

My kids eat lunch at school, but I am working my way back into making them take their lunches. At least now they get fresh fruit and whole grains. Usually sweet potato fries or tater tots instead of white potatoes too. I feel bad for the autistic girl I help that is GF though. She seems to get scalloped potatoes and ham a lot. Last week the bread was moldy too.

I am betting it was not school food with mold...that would NOT fly

And if it was the kitchen needs to be reported to the state

Interesting that they can accommodate her dietary restrictions. We don't have to do that in NM. If they get a lactose note then juice is provided but other than that they don't have gluten free options.
