I'm sure this has been asked a million times...

but, what is everyone's favorite type of diaper for newborns? I have all kinds of things for when Baby gets bigger, but not many for when Baby first comes into this lovely world of cloth diapering! It seems like maybe a prefold and a cover would be easy? Or a fitted with a cover? I have 2 AIOs for newborn size and a few inserts and covers that could fit a newborn, but that's about all I have right now! I would like to get a few more before the big day!

Well, I've never cloth diapered a newborn before (I didn't start using cloth until DD was 7 months old) but I'll share what I'm using: mostly fitteds with a mix of wool and PUL covers for the newborn stage. I also have some small flats. I chose fitteds because I figure they'll keep poo contained a little better until baby gets a bit bigger. Once baby is bigger I'm using mostly flats and covers but I have a few pockets and an AIO for babysitters.

I personally didn't find that there was a huge difference in cding a nb so I always preferred AIOs

I have cd'ed 2 nbs and I LOVE PFs and Flats! I did get Swaddlebees simplex nb Aios fot ease and out and about. I am not going to lie--I like fitteds too for night or coverless but I did not get any this time around bc I wanted things that would last a long time and I figures the simplex nb would be fine for night and ease.

I don't have a favorite cause I started when DD was 6 weeks.

But... I was pretty much only going to buy prefolds and covers for the newbie. I ended up buying those and some Alva pockets cause they're so cheap. I'm imagining the prefolds and covers are going to be my best bet though.

DD was in OS when we tried at 6 weeks, so we'll see if this one follows the same sizing trends.

I liked xs FB with Levi - but I don't like how often/easily the elastic goes in FB. Boo for that.

Loved Mutts AI2s - first diapers DH and I reached for whenever they were clean.
Piddle Poddle NB AIOs were awesome too!
Small GADs were a great fit right from birth, and then fit for a long while (I want to say close to 6 months?).

FTR, DH and I tried everything over the years of using cloth. We figured out we like pockets and AIOs, so that's all we use!
