Is this possible?

I have a pink gauze wrap, aprox 5.5 yards long and 26'' wide and i am looking for a wahmto have it converted to a mei tai. I dont need padded straps or anything, really basic and i assume the body of it would be a thicker cotton. Is this possible or am i imagining something that doesnt exist? My main reason for doing it is to save money, the wrap was around 50$ and im wondering if i am better off just trying to sell it and buy a new mei tai without trying to convert?

I think you would be better off just buying a ready-made mei tai. I suspect a gauze wrap wouldn't work that well for a mei tai, and it would probably wouldn't save you any money either. You can find used and clearance mei tais for around $50, I doubt converting your wrap would cost much less than that.

i wouldn't convert gauze to a mei tai - gauze is a relatively weak fabric. it is great as a wrap because there are no seams for it to be compromised on, but as a mei tai i would foresee it quickly ripping at the seams. i would just buy a cheap cotton mei tai off the FB swap or a used baby store...you can probably get one for $30 or less

thanks, this is my new plan and sadly i will sell my wrap! i belong to a fb babywearing group but it isnt a swap, can you tell me what its called?
